Porsche makes it three out of three in fog-affected Daytona 24 Hours
Porsche Penske Motorsport claimed a third straight Rolex 24 at Daytona win as fog, Cadillac pressure and late drama shaped the 2026 IMSA opener.

- The predecessor of the 24-hour race is considered to be the “Daytona Continental,” which originally covered a distance of 3 hours and later 2,000 kilometers.
- The 24 Hours of Daytona has been held since 1966, with the distance shortened to 6 hours only once, in 1972.
- With 20 overall victories, Porsche is the most successful manufacturer ever at Daytona.
- The track in Daytona was built in 1959 by NASCAR founder Bill France Sr. and is nicknamed the “World Center of Racing.”
- The race is not part of the World Endurance Championship but serves as the season opener for the IMSA series.
- The lap record, set by Pipo Derani in 2024, stands at 1:32.656 minutes.
