- Lusail International Circuit was opened in 2004 and initially hosted motorcycle racing.
- The race has been the curtain-raiser to the WEC since 2024.
- The race is set to be run over 1812km, or a maximum of ten hours, in honour of Qatar’s date of unification on 18 December 1878.
