Cadillac lock out front row in Fuji qualifying, Aston best in LMGT3

Cadillac Hertz Team Jota celebrated their third podium of the season with a convincing display in qualifying for for the WEC 6 Hours of Fuji.

Driver of the #12 V-Series.R Alex Lynn edged ahead of his teammate Sébastien Bourdas (#38) in a tight Hyperpole session with a handful of minutes remaining, before going quicker again on his final flyer to take pole by 0.439 seconds.

Starting from the second row will be the #009 Aston Martin Valkyrie after Marco Sørensen snatched third position at the death with his sixth Hyperpole lap. With it, Aston Martin secured their best qualifying performance so far in their maiden FIA WEC season in the Hypercar category.

Completing the second row is the #93 Peugeot 9X8, which was just under half a second slower than the pole time in the hands of Mikkel Jensen. Championship contenders Ferrari and Porsche could only manage the fifth- and sixth-fastest times for the #51 and #5 cars respectively.

Barrichello shines for Aston Martin in LMGT3

The #10 Racing Spirit of Léman crew scored their first pole position of the season thanks to an excellent qualifying driver by Eduardo Barrichello. The Brazilian nudged his Aston Martin Vantage AMR LMGT3 ahead of the second-placed #95 United Autosports McLaren 720S by just 0.03 of a second.

The second row for Sunday’s race will also be a McLaren-Aston affair, as the #59 United Autosports finished Hyperpole third fastest and the #27 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin posted the fourth-quickest time.
