From the 22nd to the 24th of August, the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) kicks off the second half of its season. A quick look at the current championship standings makes it clear that the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps is going to be packed with excitement.
With 44 cars and 129 drivers from all over the world, the race at Spa once again promises high-octane drama. The focus is squarely on the incredibly tight battle for the championship lead.
In the LMP2 class, the VDS Panis Racing team is just one point ahead of IDEC Sport, with Inter Europol Competition lurking only a few points behind. It’s also wide open in the LMP2 Pro/Am standings, where a mere 13 points separate the top six teams.
The LMP3 category is the only one currently dominated by a single squad. With a 45-point lead, the CLX Motorsport team could secure the title early in Spa.
There’s also plenty of excitement in the LMGT3 class, where the Spirit of Race Ferrari team holds a slim six-point lead.
