Max Verstappen in the Ferrari 296 GT3 on the Nordschleife

Nürburgring Nordschleife start NLS9

The 57th ADAC Barbarossapreis on 27 September 2025 is already making headlines. For the first time, four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen will be competing in a GT3 racing car on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The race can be watched free of charge via live stream.

For Verstappen, a long-cherished dream is coming true in the Emil Frey Racing Ferrari 296 GT3. Together with Briton Chris Lulham, the F1 driver will be behind the wheel of the Ferrari this weekend. The duo prepared meticulously in advance and obtained the necessary DMSB Permit Nordschleife in Category A.

WEC champion and Le Mans winner on the starting grid

In addition to Max Verstappen’s GT3 debut, the penultimate race of the 2025 NLS season offers further exciting commitments in the driver line-up.

Verstappen and Lulham face strong competition in the SP9 class, the highest category. For example, Haupt Racing Team is entering two Ford Mustang GT3s in the race. One of these cars will be driven by Nordschleife experts Frank Stippler and Vincent Kolb, who recently celebrated the first Mustang victory at the Ring. DTM driver and Le Mans class winner Fabio Scherer will compete in the second Ford Mustang GT3 alongside Dennis Fetzer and Jann Mardenborough.

Also not to be underestimated is the Porsche 911 GT3 from Dinamic GT with Bastian Buus and reigning WEC LMGT3 champion Joel Sturm at the wheel. Lap record holder Christian Krognes will also be in the mix in the Aston Martin Vantage GT3, ensuring exciting duels.

The race gets underway on Saturday, 27 September 2025, at 12:00 noon. The race can be watched free of charge via the live stream of the ADAC Nürburgring Endurance Series.
