Toyota ushers in the new FIA WEC season with the Toyota TR010 Hypercar, a clean-sheet evolution of its endurance racing programme for 2026.
The Toyota TR010 not only replaces the GR010, it also introduces a fresh visual identity and an updated team name that sharpen the manufacturer’s focus on outright wins at Le Mans and across the World Endurance Championship.
The Toyota TR010 Hypercar Concept
At its core, the Toyota TR010 stays true to the philosophy that has defined Toyota’s modern endurance efforts. A turbocharged petrol engine works in concert with a front-axle hybrid system. Both are forming the technical heart of the Toyota TR010 within the Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) rule set. On paper the concept may look familiar, but the TR010 pushes far beyond what the badge alone suggests.
Toyota positions the TR010 as the next evolutionary step after the GR010. It is designed to bring the marque back into striking range of Ferrari and an increasingly crowded Hypercar field. The target is clear: fight for overall victories again in a landscape where Le Mans wins are no longer traded among a handful of works teams.

Aerodynamics And Design Of The Toyota TR010
Beneath the bodywork, aerodynamics and packaging have been comprehensively reworked. The goal is to keep the Toyota TR010 more consistently within the BoP-window over a full season. The development brief calls for a car that operates comfortably on low-drag circuits like Le Mans while still delivering confidence and pace on twistier layouts such as Imola or São Paulo.
Aerodynamic efficiency sits at the centre of the TR010 programme. Toyota has reshaped the body so the Hypercar cuts more cleanly through the air. They also improved the balance between downforce and drag to maximise usable performance. Visually, the Toyota TR010 leans more heavily into road-going cues. It’s echoing the original spirit of the Hypercar formula while retaining the downforce needed for Le Mans.
This approach allows Toyota to combine brand DNA, visual drama and hard performance in a single package that stands apart. The intention is unmistakable: The TR010 should look like a flagship on the pit and behave like a thoroughbred prototype .
New Name, Familiar Driver Line-Up
Alongside the new car, Toyota chooses continuity in structure and personnel. The works operation remains anchored by two Toyota TR010 Hypercars, with well-drilled procedures in the garage. What does change is the name. Toyota Gazoo Racing becomes simply Toyota Racing. The new Name is supported by a refreshed red-and-white livery that nods back to the brand’s early Le Mans campaigns.
On the driving side, the 2026 season brings no changes to the crews. The existing line-ups carry over into the Toyota TR010. This is a decision aimed at flattening the learning curve with the new chassis. After the Bahrain victory and second in the manufacturers’ standings, Toyota sees the biggest gains in developing the proven framework.
Strategic Role Of The Toyota TR010 In FIA WEC
In the short term, Toyota’s priority is to close the gap to Ferrari and the other Hypercar manufacturers. Otherwhile they gain more flexibly to BoP changes. Toyota conceived the Toyota TR010 as a direct response to a grid where the battle for Le Mans glory stretches far beyond a small club of factory entries.
With its evolvable chassis and a hybrid architecture deliberately aligned with potential future regulation tweaks. Toyota built the Toyota TR010 for more than just a single campaign. They intends the car as a weapon for immediate victories in 2026. But also made it as a foundation stone for a sustainable long-term works programme in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
